VROU SOEK BOER open 7Maart 2014!
Nuwe fliek – Vrou Soek Boer

On set with 'Spud' star Troye & YouTube celeb Caspar
THE CRAZY Eight are back in town.
Parts of the latest Spud film – Learning to Fly – are being filmed at Rustenburg Girls, Rondebosch Boys and Bishops and some surrounding houses.
The movie adaptations of Spud, created by actor, author and playwright John van de Ruit, have proven as popular as the books on which they are based.
The Spud series was released in 2005 and introduced John “Spud” Milton and the shenanigans of the Crazy Eight – a group of boys at a prestigious private boarding school in KwaZulu-Natal . It follows Spud’s life, fashioned in the style of a diary.
The sequel Spud: The Madness Continues was released in 2007.
In June 2009 the third book Spud: Learning to Fly was launched and sold 77 000 copies in South Africa in its first two weeks after release.
The movie is expected to be released some time early next year. British comedy legend John Cleese reprises his role as English teacher “The Guv”.
The crew were on set at Bishops yesterday.
Lead actor playing the role of “Spud”, Troye Sivan, was born in South Africa but has been living in Australia.
Sivan said there have been some “huge changes” to the series, among them, a new director in John Barker, which Sivan described as “new, fresh and very exciting”.
“It’s definitely my favourite one so far,” he said of the third movie.
He said that on their off days some of the cast had been relaxing and since most of them were now 18, they sometimes enjoyed a night out at the clubs.
“But I haven’t been up Table Mountain or seen some of the sights, but I’ll definitely be spending more time in Cape Town – it’s my favourite city in the world.”
Barker admits to being a bit nervous about running the show, but said the crew had been “great”.
He said the third instalment would not include a deviation from the Spud formula as the first two had already laid a solid foundation.
“It’s just for me to take it to the next level,” he said.
When asked whether the fourth and final movie – based on Spud: Exit, Pursued by a Bear – was on the cards, producer Ross Garland, said: “Definitely. Although we’re not supposed to say so until we start filming it…”

Caspar Lee is officially confirmed as the new member of the Crazy 8 for Spud 3 by producer Ross Garland and author of the Spud series John van de Ruit.

John Cleese returns for SPUD 3.
